New Law Will - You Don't Actually Own Digital Games

a newly passed piece of legislation in California signed into law earlier this week by governor Gavin Newsom, will force companies selling digital goods—like games—in the state to warn consumers that they don’t actually own that content, but instead are licensing it and could lose access to it in the future.

Digital ecosystems have evolved from simple virtual communities into complex economic structures that, to a considerable extent, reflect the significant characteristics of real-world economies over the past 20 years. On one side, there are virtual economies and digital marketplaces at the macro level, where users trade NFTs and freelance services. However, a different but related concept, in-game economies, refers to those specific title-based economies that facilitate players in generating, marketing, and appraising game-related assets, such as skins, items, or currencies.

To enable long-term creator success, this year we’ve added new tools and features to facilitate game development and increase monetization opportunities within Roblox.

Global Intellectual Property Economy Market Size

The global Intellectual Property (IP) market is becoming increasingly central to how businesses protect innovation, monetize digital assets, and strengthen competitive positioning. As AI adoption, digital content, and global commercialization grow, enterprises are strengthening patents, trademarks, copyrights, and licensing strategies to protect long-term value.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Everything developers ask about integrating Invo.

What is Invo Tech?

Invo Tech is a middleware platform for premium currency value portability across games, entertainment, and e-commerce ecosystems. Players carry their premium currency spending power between participating titles, while developers maintain full control over what that value can purchase through configurable acceptance rules. Invo does not transfer items, skins, cosmetics, progress, or inventory, only cash value. Our UGC marketplace lets creators monetize mods and custom content, with earnings portable across the network. The platform generates sustainable revenue for developers through an automated transfer fee system.

Is Invo a crypto or blockchain platform?

No. Invo is not a cryptocurrency and does not use blockchain, tokens, NFTs, or any web3 technology anywhere in the platform. There are no wallets to install and no tokens to buy. Invo is conventional financial infrastructure: a centrally operated bank ledger with standard payment rails, real-time balance synchronization, and compliance built in. Value on the network is denominated in real currency, and payouts settle through normal banking channels.

How do I get started as a developer?

Register on the Developer Dashboard at console.invo.network, download the Invo SDK for your engine or platform, and integrate it into your product. From there you configure acceptance rules, currency exchange ratios, and any per-title spending controls before going live. Our docs, code samples, and integration team support you end-to-end.

Which engines and platforms does Invo support?

Invo ships native SDKs for the major game engines: Unreal Engine, Unity (including Blueprints, Bolt, and Playmaker visual scripting), and Godot. Beyond engines, there is a Web SDK on npm (@invonetwork/web-sdk) and a Python SDK on PyPI (invonetwork) for web, server-side, and non-game integrations, all backed by a REST API. We provide reference projects, sample code, and direct technical support for integration. Custom solutions are available for proprietary engines or unique development environments.

How long does SDK integration typically take?

Baseline integration takes 1–2 days. On the SDK side it is just three things: drop in the SDK, map your premium currency, and turn on the cross-game transfer flow. Everything else, analytics, UGC marketplace listings, acceptance-rule configuration, and payouts, lives in the Developer Dashboard at console.invo.network from day one, with no extra integration work on your side. The 1–3 week range comes in when studios want to go further, like skinning the in-game screens to match their art direction or building custom flows on top of the API. Our integration team is available throughout.

How does Invo's revenue sharing model work?

Invo applies a 10% transfer fee on each cross-game transaction, automatically distributed through our fee allocation system: 3.5% to the origin game, 3.5% to the destination game, and 3% platform fee covering infrastructure, compliance, and support. For same-application transfers (if enabled), the default split is 7% to the developer and 3% to Invo. Both studios earn from every transfer, monetizing churn at the origin and rewarding acquisition at the destination simultaneously.

Does Invo transfer items, skins, or inventory?

No. Invo transfers premium currency value only, not items, skins, cosmetics, progression, or inventory. Players move spending power between participating titles; what that value can be spent on inside your game is entirely controlled by you through acceptance rules. Your in-game economy, item ownership model, and live-ops levers remain yours.

What controls do developers have over premium currency usage?

Full control. You define acceptance rules for incoming value: which SKUs, bundles, and storefront categories it can be spent on, exchange ratios versus your native currency, per-player and per-transaction caps, and whether transfers are inbound, outbound, or bidirectional. You can adjust these rules in real time from the Developer Dashboard without an SDK update.

What is the UGC marketplace and how does it work?

The Invo UGC marketplace lets creators publish and monetize mods, custom content, and user-generated assets across participating titles. Creators earn portable Invo-network value from sales, which they can spend in any game on the network. Developers can curate which UGC types are listed for their title and apply standard revenue share, creating a new income stream and richer player experience alongside core monetization.

Can I integrate Invo into a live or legacy game?

Yes. Invo is designed to drop into both new titles and live games, including legacy and back-catalog titles, without rebuilding your existing economy. The SDK runs alongside your current store and currency systems, and acceptance rules let you opt in gradually (for example, enabling inbound transfers first to test). Legacy-title relaunches are a key use case: existing audiences become a new monetization surface.

What security measures does Invo implement?

Invo uses enterprise-grade security: multi-layer authentication with passkey support, progressive rate limiting with automated threat detection, SMS-based PIN verification for high-value transactions, TLS 1.3+ encrypted transmission, comprehensive input validation, automated fraud detection with spending limits, and detailed audit trails with unique transaction IDs. We also run secure credential management, circuit breakers for service resilience, and real-time monitoring to protect both players and developers.

Is Invo compliant with international regulations?

Yes. Invo is built for global reach with regulatory compliance as a core principle. The platform maintains GDPR and CCPA compliance through automated PII anonymization, user consent workflows, and secure data retention policies. We implement KYC verification with tiered spending limits, transaction audit trails for financial reporting, automated tax documentation for withdrawals, and PCI-DSS aligned payment standards. A dedicated support ticket system handles compliance inquiries from developers and players.

How scalable is the Invo platform?

Invo runs on cloud-native auto-scaling infrastructure (1–100+ instances) handling everything from indie titles with hundreds of players to large multi-game franchises with millions of concurrent users. You get sub-second response times, a 99.9% uptime target, distributed caching for high-throughput transactions, real-time balance synchronization across connected games, enterprise analytics with data visualization and export, and dedicated technical support.

What does the developer dashboard provide?

The Developer Dashboard at console.invo.network is the operational hub for your Invo integration: real-time revenue tracking, player spending patterns, transfer volumes by direction, settlement and payout data, acceptance rule configuration, UGC marketplace management, support ticketing, and exportable financial reports. It is the same dashboard your finance and live-ops teams use day to day.

Who are Invo's key partners?

Invo collaborates with enterprise payment processors, banking infrastructure providers for ACH transfer capabilities, accounting software for automated financial reconciliation, game studios including Good Dog Studios, VR Eval, MetaEngine, and Wagyu Games LLC, and technology partners specializing in cloud infrastructure, security, and compliance.
